ThoughtShift Reverse Advent Calendar 2018

We are thrilled to announce ThoughtShift will be running its Reverse Advent Calendar for its third consecutive year. We feel it’s so important to continue to support Whitehawk food bank who do such amazing work in the local community. They provide a lifeline to people in crisis all year long. Food poverty is getting worse and foodbanks are being relied upon for longer and longer periods. According to the food banks and emergency food network report in 2017 16 foodbanks in Brighton and surrounding areas gave out approx. 315 food parcels per week.

How to Donate

The ThoughtShift team will be collecting food and household items for the Reverse Advent Calendar Challenge throughout December. ThoughtShift will be inviting local businesses and organisations to join in the challenge with them to increase the impact of these important donations at Christmas.

Donations can be given in three ways:

  • Food donations dropped into the ThoughtShift offices, Spaces, Mocatta House, Trafalgar Place, Brighton, BN1 4DU.
  • Food donations dropped directly to Whitehawk Food Bank, St Cuthmans Church, Whitehawk Way, Whitehawk, Brighton, BN2 5HE – Please check the website for opening times.
  • Financial contributions can be made online at https://www.givey.com/whfoodbank
Reverse advent calendar

ThoughtShift’s Reverse Advent Calendar Challenge will take place from the 3rd of December and all donations from ThoughtShift will be dropped to Whitehawk Foodbank by 20th of December in time for Christmas.

Whitehawk Food Bank needs donations such as tinned meat, tinned pies, life and UHT milk to provide people with nutritionally balanced meals for three days. Household supplies such as toiletries, nappies, sanitary towels, tampons, baby food and razors are also needed.

Twelve Days of Christmas 2018

Whitehawk are also running their Twelve Days of Christmas campaign which lists the 12 most popular items they would like. Check out their awesome Christmas video.

Almost a quarter of people in Brighton and Hove have trouble paying for basic living costs including food. It is estimated that over 823 people a week rely on food banks in Brighton and Hove, which provide an estimated 1,620 meals to beneficiaries every week. Whitehawk Food Bank which operates as part of the Trussell Trust has helped feed 3,964 people in need in Brighton and Hove since 2015, including 1,419 children.

The Reverse Advent Calendar Challenge is part of ThoughtShift’s commitment to partner and fundraise for a range of charities local to Brighton and Hove and our internally appointed Charity Ambassador along with the collective action of the team work towards making a difference to the Brighton community.
