ThoughtShift Charity Football Shield 2018 Scores for The Clock Tower Sanctuary

ThoughtShift Charity Football Shield Raises Hundreds of Pounds for Brighton Homeless Charity in the inaugural ThoughtShift Charity Football Shield. The event took place on Thursday 15th February 2018 to raise money for Brighton based charity, The Clock Tower Sanctuary.

After rustling up 4 brave 5-a-side football teams from Brighton based digital agencies and businesses including ThoughtShift, iCrossing, RocketMill and Plus Accounting team entry fees and spectator donations were raised with all proceeds from the event going to help young people living on the streets of Brighton.

The teams

ThoughtShift’s Co-Founder & Managing Director, AJ Coutts commented “The privilege of working in such an amazing city as Brighton and as a member of the digital marketing community, is looking at how we can pay it forward to local charities, benefiting the community as a whole. After putting our collective heads together and taking into consideration a serious, deep and meaningful love that our team members have for the beloved game, we realised football held the answer. What better way to give back than to get together for the ThoughtShift Charity Football Tournament whilst raising money for an incredible local charity.”

Plus Accounting’s Victoria King commented, “What an amazing Charity Football Tournament! A massive thanks to ThoughtShift for organising and raising the awareness on a fantastic local charity, The Clock Tower Sanctuary. We managed to win the tournament and our team were buzzing for days! A brilliant chance to boost team communication and spirit! Already signed up for next year!’

Marc Young, Managing Partner at RocketMill said: “The RocketMill team had a great time and it was extremely unexpected (lucky) when we made the final considering the somewhat lack of match fitness! Thank goodness for our goalkeeper Neil. I’m sure we’ll support the mission to build the event next year and perhaps we might even get in a little practice this time!”

Jamie Clifford, Chief Client Officer at iCrossing said: “The guys had a great time and all for a worthy cause!”

The afternoon was dry and sunny, the referee was all set and the tournament kicked off with iCrossing v ThoughtShift, resulting in a 3 – 1 win for iCrossing.

We had some truly exceptional football throughout the tournament. The semi-finals were nail biting and saw iCrossing and ThoughtShift knocked out after both games went to a tense penalty shootout, leaving Plus Accounting and RocketMill in the final.

Plus Accounting reached the final as the under dogs and emerged victorious after unleashing a fantastic attack scoring 3 goals to Nil, holding back RocketMill with brilliant defence and a very committed goal keeper.

We must not forget that the event was in aid of a charity very close to our hearts, The Clock Tower Sanctuary. Who do amazing work with the young homeless people here in Brighton and Hove. Brighton has the second largest homeless population in the UK outside of Westminster and this event has helped raise much needed funds towards the 4,000 plus young homeless in our beautiful city.

A massive thank you to everyone who took part and made the tournament such a tremendous success.

Following the success of this year’s tournament we look forward to announcing dates for next year’s tournament shortly.
