Following on from the success of the ThoughtShift Reverse Advent Calendar in 2016, ThoughtShift took part in a Reverse Advent Calendar Challenge in December 2017 to increase food donations for the Whitehawk Food Bank and to help increase awareness around the outstanding work that food banks do.

The challenge involved ThoughtShift team members putting aside items of food in December just like opening one door per day on an advent calendar. Further to this, team members nominated friends and family to join in and either drop donations off with ThoughtShift, deliver them directly to Whitehawk Food Bank or make a financial contribution.

The ThoughtShift team raised over 65kg of donations of food and household items. This included much needed items like toilet paper, sanitary products and pet food as well as food items. Donations raised will go towards three-day emergency supplies given to people in the Brighton and Hove area facing hunger and crisis.

Anne Amner, Co-ordinator at Whitehawk Food Bank commented:

“We are so grateful to ThoughtShift and other local businesses who collect for us with initiatives such as the reverse advent calendar. January is always a hard month after Christmas and with higher energy bills, and since the introduction of Universal Credit at the end of 2017 we are expecting the next few months to be a difficult time for an increasing number in our city. Collections like this enable us to go into the new year in a position to help as many people as possible.”

Helen Trendell, Managing Director & Co-Founder of ThoughtShift was delighted at the impact the project would have on those in need:

“ThoughtShift is proud to have contributed to 65kgs of essential food and household items to Whitehawk Food Bank and help the estimated 1,109,309 people in crisis who needed emergency food supplies last year”.

The Reverse Advent Calendar Challenge was undertaken as part of ThoughtShift’s commitment to partner and fundraise for a range of charities local to Brighton and Hove. ThoughtShift will continue to partner with local charities in 2018 and beyond to raise funds for even more local causes.

ThoughtShift are also involved in the advanced stages of organising an incredibly exciting charity event in February 2018, which will involve the major Digital Marketing agencies in Brighton & Hove and raising money and awareness of the issue of young homeless people in the city of Brighton & Hove. We shall be releasing further details of this event soon.
