Schools:
Hardwick has its own elementary school with approximately 345 students and is home to the Hazen Union High School, home to about 425 students from Hardwick and the surrounding communities of Greensboro, Woodbury, Stannard and Wolcott. Hardwick Elementary School has an eleven to one student to teacher ratio, and the Hazen Union High School has a ten to one student to teacher ratio. In 1987, the high school received a National Blue Ribbon Award for Excellence in Education from the U.S. Department of Education, and accomplishment which was matched by the elementary school in 1988.
Major colleges in the region include Lyndon State College, Johnson State College, and the Community College of Vermont. Other area colleges include the University of Vermont, Norwich University, Middlebury College, Trinity College, St. Michael's College, Champlain College, Dartmouth College, Vermont Law School, and the Vermont Technical College.
Hospitals:
The health needs of Hardwick residents are served by the Hardwick Area Health Center, and regional hospitals in Morrisville, St. Johnsbury, and Berlin. Major research and teaching facilities are located at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Centers in Burlington (MCHV Campus) and Colchester (Fanny Allen Campus), and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover New Hampshire.
